What website platforms actually cost in 2026.

Published list prices for Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, GoDaddy, Framer and Shopify as of August 2026, with what each one costs per year, next to the same website hosted on Cloudflare at $0.

Every figure below is the vendor's own published price, with the source named. Verify anything before you act on it — these change, and two of them changed this summer.

Squarespace

Annual plan prices rose in July 2026: Basic to $19 a month, Core to $29, Plus to $49. Core and Plus went up about 26%. Advanced stayed at $99. Monthly billing costs more again.

PlanAnnual, beforeAnnual, afterChangePer year
Basic$16/mo$19/mo+19%$228
Core$23/mo$29/mo+26%$348
Plus$39/mo$49/mo+26%$588
Advanced$99/mo$99/mo$1,188

One qualification, and it matters. Days after the notices went out, Squarespace emailed many customers to say the renewal amounts shown were higher than intended and blamed an internal error. Nobody was charged the original figures — they were advance notices. The list prices above stand; an individual renewal quote may not match them. If yours arrived and looked wrong, it may have been.

Wix

Billed annually: Light $17 a month, Core $29, Business $39, Business Elite $159. The free domain covers the first year only, after which it renews at about $15 to $17 a year.

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthlyPer year
Light$17/mo$24/mo$204
Core$29/mo$36/mo$348
Business$39/mo$46/mo$468
Business Elite$159/mo$172/mo$1,908

The cost that is not on the table is the lock. Wix's own help centre states that because Wix is a software-as-a-service product, a site must run on Wix's servers and cannot use another host, since the architecture relies on Wix's proprietary technology. There is no export. Leaving Wix means rebuilding the design somewhere else.

Webflow

A Premium site plan is $25 a month billed annually. That is not the bill. Add the one full seat needed to edit anything, at $39 a month, and a working setup is $64 a month, or $768 a year.

ItemBilled annuallyBilled monthly
Basic site plan$15/mo$25/mo
Premium site plan (replaced CMS and Business)$25/mo$39/mo
Full seat$39/mo
Limited seat$15/mo
Ecommerce Standard$29/mo

Webflow restructured its plans in May 2026. New purchases moved to the new structure on 13 May 2026 and most existing sites moved at renewal from 29 June 2026, so a plan you priced last year may not be the plan you are on.

GoDaddy, Framer and Shopify

GoDaddy runs $120 to $252 a year but does not publish renewal prices. Framer runs $120 to $1,200 a year plus $240 per extra editor. Shopify is a shop, not a website — if you sell online, stay.

PlatformPlanBilled annuallyPer year
GoDaddyBasic$9.99/mo$120
GoDaddyPremium$14.99/mo$180
GoDaddyCommerce$20.99/mo$252
FramerBasic$10/mo$120
FramerPro$30/mo$360
FramerScale (annual only)$100/mo$1,200
FramerEach extra full editor$20/mo$240
ShopifyBasic$19/mo$228 + fees
ShopifyGrow$49/mo$588 + fees

Two honest caveats. GoDaddy publishes introductory prices and not renewal prices; every comparison site notes a jump at renewal and none has a current published US figure, so check your own invoice rather than the marketing page. And Shopify's own pricing page and a widely cited third-party tracker disagree about the Basic and Grow tiers — the figures above are Shopify's own page as read on 7 August 2026.

What “free” does not mean

It does not mean free in perpetuity. No company commits a pricing tier to eternity, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. What it means is that your site is a folder you own: if the terms ever change, the same folder goes to another host in an afternoon, and that is exactly the position a builder plan is designed to keep you out of.
